Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, June 2016

Northeast Mississippi, USA zone 7

Prentiss County, Mississippi, USA, June 1, 2016
I am beginning this Bloom Day post with the reason I do not have a lot of blooms - Deer!
Mother and son come in the early mornings nibbling their way through my yard. Thankfully, there are a few plants they leave alone.

My Gardenia is full of blooms - more than I have seen in the past few years.

The Marigolds are blooming abundantly.

I love the scalloped edges of this Coreopsis.

The Butterfly Bush is blooming, but I have not seen many butterflies on it.

And the Butterfly Weed that I rescued just before the highway department mowing machines came along last year has survived and is blooming again. Hurrah!

Happy Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

  1. I am pleased to see that you have named and shamed the culprits! On the upside, they had the good grace to leave some spectacular blooms alone. Happy GBBD!

  2. Your gardenias are gorgeous! Wish we could grow them up here. I'm glad the deer left some of your lovely blooms alone--I'm battling the rabbits in my vegetable garden this year. Happy Bloom Day!

  3. Oh, we have the same problem! Deer in the flowerbeds - ack! Right now, though, I believe the mama's are off having their baby's because we only have one or two wondering around. I enjoy seeing them, but they are rough on my plants. Happy Bloom Day!

  7. Outdoor gardenias - you must have a great climate to accommodate them outside.
Wouldn't it be great if the deer just nibbled the grass _:)
But you have a lovely lot of colour left.

  10. Deer! Oh no! Between them and the bunnies it's a constant battle here. I love gardenia, especially the scent.

  12. All beautiful photos. I signed over your gardenia, something that just can't be grown outdoors here in upstate New York. I'm happy some of your blooms survived the deer.

  13. I absolutely love your gardenias! It is one of my favorites, but doesn't do that well here in New England. It smells like heaven! Your post is inspiring me to add a butterfly bush to my yard. :) Stunning garden!

  14. Your Gardenias and Butterfly Bush are gorgeous, as well as your other blooms. The deer are beautiful, but I do feel your pain, and hopefully they won't do too much damage. Happy Bloom Day!
